Phoenix Association was established in 2005 as self-help group with People Living with HIV (PLHIV) and became the registered organization as Local NGO (from Ministry of Home Affair) in 2012. Phoenix has been doing Social Enterprise, HIV related health care and support, and rule of law (justice), in addition to work disaster response activities started by Cyclone Nargis recovery in 2008.
Phoenix annually provides school stationery for Children Affected by AIDS (CABA) in Yangon Division. Providing technical assistant locally for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) for their development and sustainability. Phoenix is implementing a health and justice program with 70 members, including volunteers of health, social support and social enterprises program. Moreover, Phoenix has been leading and collaborating with the community networks to amend and reform laws related the HIV community and Key Populations at National level working with parliamentarians and relevant Ministries.
Currently, as the rule of law project (Justice), implementing legal aid service and awareness with support of USAID/PRLM, and awareness and advocacy for the drugs policy and laws with support of Open Society Myanmar. Global Fund’s HIV prevention and Health Education (KPSC) (Northern District), and treatment and care (Yangon Region) activities are underway as Health Program coordinate with Alliance Myanmar. Local Action Towards TB-Free Myanmar (LATT-M) project is one of the Health Project.
Local Action Towards TB-Free Myanmar (LATT-M), a network of local organizations led by Pyi Gyi Khin (PGK), will accelerate national progress toward ending the TB epidemic in Myanmar by 2035. Phoenix Association as one of the members of the LATT-M consortium, will mobilize and empower to TB peer communities.
